About this copy

The 19th book in the Famous Five series. The copyright page of this copy states 'First printed 1961' with no further reprint notices, indicating this is the first printing. The book is presented in its original pictorial dust jacket, illustrated by Eileen Soper, with the printed price of 7s 6d net visible and unclipped on the front flap.

The rear panel of the jacket carries Enid Blyton's standard printed message to readers, reproduced in facsimile handwriting as issued by the publisher - this is not a genuine signature or inscription.

Condition

Book
Good - text block and hinges appear sound, with some age-related toning; boards not fully inspected in photographs.
Dust jacket
Fair - notable wear including chipping and small losses at the spine ends, edge rubbing, a crease/tear to the front panel near the spine, and a small stain to the rear panel. Spine lettering remains legible.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
