About this copy
This is the seventh title in the Famous Five series. The copyright page states 'First Published, October 1948' with 'Ninth Impression 1958' - this copy is therefore a 1958 ninth impression of the book, not a first edition. The book is bound in red cloth boards with black lettering to the spine.
There is no dust jacket present. The front free endpaper/board carries a printed illustration depicting a railway tunnel scene in blue and black. A name reading 'Enid Blyton' has been handwritten in black ink on the lower front cover; this has not been authenticated as the author's genuine signature and should be regarded as an unverified addition rather than a confirmed autograph.
Condition
- Book
- Good – Red cloth boards show light wear and corner bumping consistent with age and handling. Spine lettering is legible though slightly faded. Text block and internal illustrations are clean. No dust jacket.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
