About this copy
A charming daybook and anthology of prose and verse, compiled by Bowyer Nichols and introduced by the American-born essayist Logan Pearsall Smith. First published in 1895, it has been a favourite with readers ever since, offering a gentle, quotable passage for every day of the year. This copy is a 1942 reprint of the 1941 reissue, with the new preface.
It is a handsome hardback in a gilt-tooled green binding with marbled endpapers.
Condition
- Book
- Good. The binding is firm and the text block sound, with clean, bright pages and light age toning. The boards show rubbing and scuffing, the spine gilt is worn in places, and there is some chipping to the leather at the head and foot of the spine. The front free endpaper bears an ink inscription. No dust jacket.
A pre-owned book; any wear beyond that described is minor and in keeping with its age.
