About this copy
This is the Angus & Robertson edition first published in 1957 as a deliberate facsimile of the original 1915 first edition, reproducing its size, style, and the original Hal Gye illustrations and jacket art, along with Henry Lawson's foreword. The copyright page lists a long reprint history running from 1958 through 1975, and this copy, which carries an ISBN, represents one of the later printings in that run rather than the true first edition or the first printing of the 1957 facsimile edition. Hardcover in blue cloth boards, housed in the original illustrated dust jacket featuring Hal Gye's well-known cover art of cherubs among ruins.
Condition
- Book
- Very Good – cloth boards clean and tight, text block clean in the photographed pages; a pencilled bookseller notation appears on the front free endpaper.
- Dust jacket
- Very Good – bright and complete with vivid colour, some minor edge wear and small marks near the top edge.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
