About this copy
This is a five-volume set comprising The Gathering Storm, Their Finest Hour, The Grand Alliance, The Hinge of Fate, and Closing the Ring. The text was first published by Cassell in 1948; this Reprint Society (book club) edition was first issued in 1950, and the colophon in Volume I lists impressions running to the Eleventh Impression of November 1954, confirming this as a later Reprint Society printing rather than a first edition. Volume VI, Triumph and Tragedy, is not included in this set.
Each volume is bound in the publisher's cloth boards with maroon spine labels and gilt lettering, printed and bound by Richard Clay and Company Ltd. of Bungay, Suffolk. No dust jackets are present. One volume bears the name "Winston S. Churchill" and a numeral "7" inked on the front board; this could not be authenticated from photographs and is described here for transparency only, not as a verified autograph.

- Good – cloth boards and page edges show general age-toning and spotting/foxing throughout the set, with a small bump to one front board corner. Sound and complete, but with cosmetic wear consistent with age.
