About this copy

A handsome and richly illustrated tribute to the rose in British history and culture, from the gardens of the Tudor court to the cottage borders of the countryside. Harvey brings together the rose's long story in this country, drawing on its place in history, art and everyday life. Its colour plates make it as pleasing to browse as it is to read.

This copy is the third edition, dated May 1953, in the publisher's distinctive patterned paper boards with a cloth spine. The frontispiece is a colour reproduction of the celebrated portrait of Queen Elizabeth I.

Condition

Book
Good. A sound, firm copy with the cloth spine intact. The patterned boards show some soiling and light rubbing, and the endpapers have age toning.

A pre-owned book; any wear beyond that described is minor and in keeping with its age.
