About this copy
This is the first edition of Elizabeth Burton's social history of everyday Elizabethan domestic life, illustrated throughout by the New Zealand-born artist Felix Kelly. The copyright page states the book was first published in 1958 by Secker & Warburg, with no indication of a later printing. Hardcover in green cloth boards, housed in the original pictorial dust jacket (printed price 25s. net, unclipped).
The jacket shows considerable wear, including chipping and tearing at the spine head and corners, with some loss of paper and toning to the panels.
Condition
- Book
- Very Good – clean green cloth boards and text block, with no major defects noted to the binding itself.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – notable chipping and tearing along the spine head and top corners with some paper loss, general toning to the interior panels, and minor spotting to the front panel. Price intact and legible.
