About this copy
For anyone fascinated by the great sarsen circle on Salisbury Plain, this is a thoughtful and characterful piece of Stonehenge scholarship. C. A. Newham builds on his earlier work, The Enigma of Stonehenge, to examine the monument through the lens of astronomy: the movements of the sun and moon at the Stonehenge latitude, the purpose of the 56 Aubrey holes, and the remarkable significance Newham finds in the geometry of the stones and their outlier markers. It is a delight to read for anyone who loves the mystery of prehistoric Britain.
This copy is a 1972 printing published by the author's own imprint, Moon Publications, in its original illustrated card wrappers, with its striking orange-sun cover design still bold and attractive.
Condition
- Book
- Good - The binding is sound and the staples hold firmly, and the text is complete and readable. The covers show general age and soiling, with a darker stain along the lower right edge of the back cover, and the pages carry light toning and a few marks.
A pre-owned book; any wear beyond that described is minor and in keeping with its age.
