About this copy

The Complete Poetical Works of Sir Walter Scott. Cambridge Edition, edited by Horace E. Scudder. Published by Houghton, Mifflin and Company, Boston and New York (The Riverside Press, Cambridge), 1900.

This copy carries the copyright date 1900 on the copyright page. The photographs do not show a printing statement, so I cannot confirm whether it is a first printing or a later impression. It is not offered as a first edition.

Blue cloth binding with gilt wreath device and gilt title to front board and gilt spine lettering. No dust jacket. Frontispiece portrait of Scott with a printed facsimile signature beneath it; the facsimile is printed, not a signed copy.

A previous owner's stamped label (Percy A. Chambers, Williamstown, Mass.) appears on the title area.

Condition

Book
Good – Sound binding and firmly attached boards. Cloth scuffed and abraded along the rear board and spine ends, with a small area of cloth loss near the upper rear corner. Gilt on the spine is worn. Pages are toned in places with some marking to the endpapers and first leaves. Some wear to the front joint.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
