About this copy
This is a hardcover biography of Admiral Lord Nelson by the historian Sir Arthur Bryant, published by Collins (Collins Clear-Type Press). The copyright page is dated 1970 but does not show a full printing history, so the exact printing of this copy cannot be confirmed with certainty. Note: the title "The Pursuit of Villeneuve" sometimes associated with this copy is actually the title of Chapter 4 within the book, not the book's own title, which is simply "Nelson."
The book is bound in blue cloth with a gilt-lettered spine label. There is no dust jacket present.
Condition
- Book
- Good – blue cloth boards show some scattered marks and light wear, especially to the spine ends and label. The title page and adjacent preliminary leaves show noticeable foxing/staining. There is a handwritten inscription in ink on the title page; this appears to be an owner's inscription rather than an authenticated signature, and we make no claim as to its authorship.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
Collector's notes
- The book's actual title is "Nelson"; "The Pursuit of Villeneuve" is the title of its fourth chapter, covering the lead-up to the Battle of Trafalgar
- Published by Collins, London, 1970 (Collins Clear-Type Press)
- No dust jacket present
- Title page bears a handwritten ink inscription of uncertain authorship
- Foxing is present to the title page and nearby leaves
This is a pre-owned book. Please look at every photograph: they show its true condition.
