About this copy
A beautifully produced pictorial biography of one of the most beloved saints in Christian history. Leonard von Matt's photographs, many of them taken in the landscape where Francis lived and worked, bring the story of St Francis to life through around two hundred superb plates. Father Walter Hauser's clear, warm commentary places each image in its historical setting, and Sebastian Bullough's translation keeps the book's gentle, Franciscan spirit intact.
It is a book to read as well as to look at, and it remains one of the most handsome Francis volumes on the shelf. This copy is the 1957 second impression of the 1956 edition, a handsome hardback complete with its original dust jacket, still showing its 35/- net Longmans price on the rear flap. The jacket shows some wear, and the book is in good order.
Condition
- Book
- Good. A tight, sound binding with clean pages and bright plates. There are a few small marks to the boards.
- Dust jacket
