About this copy

Marghanita Laski, herself a respected novelist and critic, brings a long and loving study of Jane Austen to this richly illustrated biography. Drawing on the novels, the letters and the world of late eighteenth-century southern England, she explores the family, friends and surroundings that shaped one of England's best-loved writers, and the milieu she so memorably described. A handsome hardback with its dust jacket, featuring the engraved portrait of Jane Austen on the cover and 137 illustrations throughout, including period engravings of the London and Hampshire settings of her life.

Condition

Book
Good - A sound, tight binding with solid boards and a clean text block. Light age toning and some light spotting to the endpapers and first pages.
Dust jacket
Fair - Intact and complete, with the portrait cover still bright, but showing noticeable wear: scuffing and rubbing, chipping and splitting to the spine ends, and some edge wear to the corners.

A pre-owned book; any wear beyond that described is minor and in keeping with its age.
