About this copy
This is the first edition of this privately-published verse tribute to the Battle of Britain, with a foreword by Air Chief Marshal Sir Keith Park, who commanded No. 11 Group RAF during the battle. The book is dedicated to Squadron Leader Geoffrey Wellum, DFC, the Spitfire pilot and author of the memoir First Light. The illustrated endpapers show a map of south-east England and northern France with aircraft silhouettes and a key to the aircraft types involved.
The book is bound in blue cloth boards and is offered here without a dust jacket.
Condition
- Book
- Good – blue cloth boards show light overall soiling and spotting to the front, rear, and spine panels, with some light wear to the corners. Internally the text block is clean. A name or initials appears handwritten in ink on the dedication leaf; this has not been authenticated as the author's signature.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
