About this copy
This is the Book Club Associates edition of the 1972 Revised Edition of Eric S. Wood's field guide, issued by arrangement with Wm. Collins Sons & Co. Ltd. The revised text brought in the tree-ring calibration of carbon-dating and other recent scientific developments in archaeology current at the time. The book includes an introduction by Sir Mortimer Wheeler and is illustrated with 59 photographs and 189 maps and line drawings.
Hardcover in original illustrated dust jacket. The jacket shows wear at the spine head and top edge, with a small chip/tear and some surface soiling to the front panel; corners are rubbed. No price is printed on the jacket flap, consistent with a book club issue.
