About this copy
Cooke's Edition, no date printed on the title page. This is Volume III (of a multi-volume set), containing Book VII of Smollett's classic English translation of Le Sage's picaresque novel. A small-format pocket edition in a contemporary full leather binding with marbled surface decoration and a gilt-lettered morocco spine label.
Condition
- Book
- Fair – The leather binding shows notable wear, with splitting at the front and rear spine joints and some loss/rubbing to the leather surface, particularly at the corners and spine ends. The rear free endpaper is torn and partially separated from the text block. The text block itself is complete, clean, and legible, with only light age-toning and handling marks. A period manuscript price notation ('8/6') appears on the front free endpaper.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
Collector's notes
- Cooke's Edition was a popular, affordable pocket-format classics series from London publisher C. Cooke

- This volume is undated; no printing statement is present on the title page
- Single volume (Vol. III) from a larger multi-volume set

This is a pre-owned book. Please look at every photograph: they show its true condition.
