About this copy

This is the first edition, first printing of this privately-flavoured memoir, described by the author as a "thread of autobiographical sketches" covering his boyhood divided between the upper Thames and his Scottish grandmother's house on Deeside, through to his pre-war service in the Royal Navy. The copyright page confirms "First published 1989" with no later printing or reprint statements present. The book is bound in hardcover boards and retains its original dust jacket, printed with a price of £15.00 on the front flap (unclipped).

A previous owner's name and address label (Barbara Greenshields, Bognor Regis) is affixed to the front free endpaper.

Condition

Book
Good – boards are clean and square; text block appears tight and complete; an owner's label is affixed to the front free endpaper.
Dust jacket
Good – general edge wear and rubbing to corners, with a small closed tear at the top edge of the front panel near the spine.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
