About this copy
A beautifully assembled portrait of one of Europe's greatest painters, told in his own words. This compilation brings together Van Gogh's paintings and drawings, many of them familiar and much loved, alongside extracts from his letters, most of them written to his devoted brother Theo. The letters are unique among those of great artists for their quantity and quality, and offer a vivid account of Vincent's life, thought and creative drive across his remarkable ten years of work.
This copy is the 2004 Time Warner paperback edition of the large-format book first published by Macdonald & Co in 1985. Its full-colour reproductions are a real pleasure, and it makes an excellent introduction for newcomers or a welcome companion for longtime admirers.
