About this copy
This is the official paperback exhibition catalogue produced by the Royal Academy of Arts to accompany the major 2005 London exhibition 'Turks: A Journey of a Thousand Years, 600-1600' (22 January - 12 April 2005). The copyright page notes the text was 'Reprinted with corrections' in 2005, the same year as first publication; this copy's precise printing point within 2005 cannot be determined from the book itself. A substantial, heavily illustrated catalogue featuring essays by leading scholars tracing Turkic history and art from the early nomadic Turks through the Seljuks, the art of Muhammad Siyah Qalam, the Timurids and Turkmen, and the Ottoman sultans up to Suleyman the Magnificent.
Illustrated throughout with over 370 works of art drawn principally from the Topkapi Saray Museum and the Museum of Turkish and Islamic Art in Istanbul, along with collections across Europe, Russia, and the United States. Issued in pictorial card covers (paperback edition, ISBN 1-903973-57-0).
Condition

- Good – a sound, complete reading/reference copy in the original pictorial paperback covers. Noticeable rubbing and wear to the spine head, corners and edges of the covers, with a small area of surface loss at the top of the spine. No dust jacket (issued without one in this paperback format). Please see photos, which form part of the description.
