About this copy
A sumptuous survey of the Impressionist movement, written by François Mathey, well-known French art critic and Chief Curator of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Paris. Mathey traces the artistic atmosphere of nineteenth-century France and brings to life the painters who changed the world of colour and light, from Cézanne, Gauguin, Van Gogh and Renoir to Manet, Monet, Pissarro and Degas. Concise biographies of every painter and detailed captions make this a rich critical companion as well as a feast for the eye.
This British edition is a handsome hardback, complete with its dust jacket, which still displays its original 35s net price on the front flap. It features 158 plates, 88 of them in full colour, many never before published in book form in this country.
Condition
- Book
- Good – a firm, sound binding with clean pages and an attractive cover presentation. Shows general age-related wear to boards and cloth.
