This is the first edition of the Handbook, dated January 1980 on the preface page. It was issued to replace the earlier Award Handbook and its companion volume, Award Programmes, and includes a foreword by the Duke of Edinburgh. Green cloth hardcover with yellow lettering and the Award crest to the front board.
No dust jacket is present with this copy.

- Book
- Fair – green cloth boards show general surface scuffing and light scratching. There is noticeable wear and fraying along the front fore-edge and spine area where the cloth and underlying board layers have separated and become exposed (see photos). Text pages show some foxing/age spotting, particularly to the preface page and early leaves, but text throughout remains clean and legible.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
