About this copy

Bernard Darwin was one of the most loved golf writers of his age, a former Cambridge captain and England international whose articles in The Times and Country Life are still treasured by the game's readers. This entertaining survey takes you from the early days of Allan Robertson and the Morrises through to the great players of the twentieth century, celebrating the golfers rather than the course architecture. This copy comes in the original green dust jacket of Collins' Britain in Pictures series, with its series listing on the back panel.

The book contains 8 colour plates and 27 black and white illustrations, including a fine colour portrait of an early golfer.

Condition

Book
Good. A sound, tight binding with clean boards and a pleasing green cloth finish. Light age toning and a few small foxing spots to the title page edge. A gift inscription from 1947 is written on the front free endpaper.
Dust jacket
Fair. Bright cover design with edge wear, chipping at the spine head and some soiling to the spine panel.

A pre-owned book; any wear beyond that described is minor and in keeping with its age.
