Text copyright 1978, revised 1981 and 1984, this copy printed 1986. This is the official National Trust guidebook to Petworth House, covering the tour of the house room by room, the picture collection, the park and pleasure grounds, the building history, and the Percy, Seymour and Wyndham family history. The front cover reproduces Fete in Petworth Park (1835) by William Frederick Witherington, a painting held in the house's North Gallery.
Photographs throughout are by A. F. Kersting and Jeremy Whitaker. This is a softcover guidebook with illustrated pictorial paper covers, printed in England by The Stellar Press, Hatfield, Herts.

- Good – the illustrated card covers show rubbing and wear at the corners and spine ends, with a small nick at the base of the spine and a faint mark on the front cover image. Internally clean and complete based on photographs.
