About this copy
One Hundred Details from Pictures in the National Gallery, with an introduction and notes by Kenneth Clark, printed for the Trustees and published in London in 1938. A beautifully illustrated volume bringing together one hundred close-up details from the National Gallery's paintings, from Renaissance panels to later masterworks. Kenneth Clark's introduction and notes help the reader see the brushwork, expression and craft behind each image.
It remains a classic gallery book for art lovers. The book is in good condition, with a tight binding and clean, sharp plates. The green cloth boards are sound.
There is a presentation inscription on the front free endpaper and light foxing to the endpapers. The dust jacket is present but heavily worn, with chipping and losses at the spine ends and top edge. A pre-owned book; any wear beyond that described is minor and in keeping with its age.
