About this copy

This is the first edition of this comprehensive single-volume angling reference, compiled and edited by A. Norman Marston, publisher of The Fishing Gazette & Sea Angler. The copyright page states 'First published 1963' with no later printing noted. The book contains 3,000 entries, 29 feature articles by angling authorities, 8 colour plates, over 200 line and scraperboard drawings by David Carl Forbes, and nearly 100 photographs, alongside a detailed county-by-county guide to fishing waters across Britain and Ireland.

The book is housed in its original illustrated dust jacket, featuring artwork by Forbes. The jacket shows notable wear, including a chip and loss of material at the spine head, along with general edge rubbing consistent with age and handling.

Condition

Book
Good – text block and endpapers appear clean and unmarked; boards show typical age wear.
Dust jacket
Fair – chipping and loss at the top of the spine, with rubbing and creasing to edges and corners; colours remain bright on the front panel.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
