About this copy
This is the Folio Society edition, originally published in 1954, reset in 1965, and reprinted in a third impression in 1972 (as stated on the copyright page). This particular copy represents that 1972 third impression of the 1965 reset text, not a first edition. Bound in red cloth boards with a dark brown illustrated design by Nigel Lambourne to the front cover, back cover, and spine, with a gilt-lettered spine label.
Housed in the original matching grey slipcase typical of Folio Society editions of this period, in place of a conventional dust jacket.
Condition
- Book
- Very Good – clean, tight text block with bright cloth covers and a legible spine label; minor age-related handling only. The accompanying slipcase shows some surface scuffing and shelf wear.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
