About this copy
HANDZEICHNUNGEN AUS DER ALBERTINA Subtitle: Neue Folge, Zweiter Band - Italienische Meister des XIV. bis XVI. Jahrhunderts Begrundet von Joseph Meder. Herausgegeben von Alfred Stix.
Published by Kunstverlag Anton Schroll & Co., Wien, 1925. This is the second volume in the 'Neue Folge' of the Albertina's series of plate volumes reproducing drawings from its collection, this one devoted to early Italian masters of the 14th to 16th centuries. Edited by Alfred Stix, with a foreword dated Wien, January 1925.
The volume reproduces drawings including works by Andrea Schiavone and an anonymous Paduan master, among others, in monochrome and tinted plates. Printed by Christoph Reisser's Sohne, Wien. The book is bound in quarter cloth with paper-covered boards, in the plain style typical of this scholarly series.
Condition
- Book
- Fair - the paper-covered boards show significant external wear: heavy surface soiling and scattered stains to the front board, scuffing and scratching to the rear board, and bumped/worn corners with some fraying to the paper covering. An old collector's label is affixed to the rear board. The plates and text block appear clean and unmarked internally based on the pages photographed. This is a sound, complete working reference copy rather than a display copy.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
