About this copy
This is the first edition, first printing of Bowman's history of the US 8th Air Force's B-17 and B-24 crews in World War 2, published to mark the 50th anniversary of the 8th Air Force's arrival in England. The copyright page states 'First published in 1992' with no later printing or reprint notices, and this copy is consistent with that first printing. The book draws on personal accounts from airmen and ground crew, combining and updating material from Bowman's earlier titles Castles in the Air and Fields of Little America, with additional narrative and previously unpublished photographs from private collections.
Hardcover in the original illustrated dust jacket, priced £20.00 net on the front flap, which is intact and unclipped.
