About this copy
This is the 1973 Octopus Books illustrated edition of du Boulay's survey of Chinese porcelain, tracing its development from early periods to the early 20th century. The text was originally published in 1963 (copyright page credits '© 1963 by Anthony du Boulay'), with this edition reprinting it with 132 illustrations, including 32 colour plates and 100 black-and-white illustrations drawn from museum and private collections such as the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, and the Percival David Foundation. The book has pictorial laminated boards (no separate dust jacket was issued with this binding style), with the cover image reproduced directly onto the boards.
Condition
- Book
- Fair – the laminated board covering is split and peeling at the spine ends (head and tail), front and back, with additional wear to the corners. Some foxing spots are visible on the endpapers near the title page. The text block and plates appear clean and complete throughout.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
