About this copy
WHAT DO YOU FEED YOUR DONKEY ON? Rhymes from a Belfast Childhood By Colette O'Hare. Illustrated by Jenny Rodwell.
Published by Collins, London, 1978. This is the first UK edition of this collection of traditional Belfast street rhymes, chants, and songs, gathered by Colette O'Hare and illustrated by Jenny Rodwell. The copyright page states 'First published 1978' with no subsequent printing or reprint notices, consistent with a first printing of the first edition.
The book was issued with laminated pictorial boards (yellow ground, illustrated in Rodwell's distinctive stippled style) rather than a separate dust jacket; there is no jacket present, as none was issued with this binding style. Printed front and rear flap-style panels with jacket-style copy (price, blurb) are integral to the boards themselves.
Condition
- Book
- Good – Yellow pictorial boards show general shelf wear including bumped corners, light soiling, and a worn/frayed spine head. Text and illustrations inside are clean and complete.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
Collector's notes
