About this copy

This is the fifth in a series of self-published commemorative volumes produced by Frank and Joan Shaw for the 50th anniversary of key WWII events, collecting over 130 first-hand personal accounts from Normandy veterans. All proceeds from the book were directed primarily to the Normandy Veterans Association, with further amounts to other ex-servicemen's organisations. No separate dust jacket was issued; the cover artwork is printed directly onto the laminated boards.

The book includes reproductions of contemporary wartime newspaper front pages (Evening Standard, Daily Mail) as part of its endpaper design, along with Eisenhower's Order of the Day to the Allied Expeditionary Force printed on the rear board.

Condition

Book
Good – sound, clean text block with a tightly bound hardback. There is a corner scuff/mark at the top right of the front board and light general shelf wear consistent with age and handling.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
