About this copy
This is the 1970 World Books edition published by arrangement with William Collins Sons & Co. Ltd., based on David Howarth's 1969 original work. A masterful reconstruction of the Battle of Trafalgar, using contemporary sources, paintings, and sketches to examine the characters of commanders and seamen, the emotions of the moment, and the complex tactical manoeuvres that decided a nation's fate. The dust jacket carries an illustration from A. Mayer's painting 'The Redoubtable about to Surrender' (La Musée de la Marine, Paris).
CLOTH AND JACKET: The book is bound in blue cloth with gilt spine detail. The dust jacket appears to be original, illustrated with a detailed naval scene.
Condition
- Book
- Good – blue cloth binding is sound and intact. Pages show natural yellowing and minor foxing appropriate to age, particularly at edges and endpapers. Text is clean and readable throughout.
- Dust jacket
- Good – artwork clear and well-reproduced. Light surface soiling and minor edge wear consistent with age; corners show gentle creasing.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
