About this copy
This is the 1994 SPA Books hardcover edition of FitzGibbon's account of the July 1944 plot against Hitler. The publishing history note on the copyright page explains that the work was first published in 1956 under the title 'The Shirt of Nessus', and later appeared in the United States as '20 July' and, in abridged form, as 'Officers' Plot to Kill Hitler'. This SPA Books edition reproduces the original 1956 text complete and unabridged, under the new title 'To Kill Hitler'.
This is not a first edition of the text, but the 1994 SPA Books printing. Red cloth boards with the original glossy pictorial dust jacket, showing a bullet-shattered photograph of a German officer on the front panel.
Condition
- Book
- Very Good – boards are clean and square, text block appears bright and unmarked.
- Dust jacket
- Very Good – bright and glossy with clear text and image; a small crease/nick is visible at the lower edge of the front panel, otherwise minor shelf wear only.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
