About this copy
This is the first edition of James Home's autobiographical account of the fate of Douglas Bader's 242 Squadron in the Far East, detailing the squadron's posting to Java and the brutal captivity endured by survivors on the island of Haruku. The copyright page states 'First published in 1989' with no later printing noted, and the book carries a foreword by Air Marshal Sir Harold Maguire, KCB, DSO, DFC. Hardcover in blue cloth boards, housed in its original price-printed dust jacket (£11.95, unclipped).
The book includes maps of the Pacific theatre and a glossary of terms used by the author.
Condition
- Book
- Good – blue cloth boards, text block appears clean and tight in photographs; ordinary shelf wear consistent with age.
- Dust jacket
- Good – original jacket present with printed price intact; small tear to the top right corner of the front panel, a faint mark to the upper left area, and an old booksellers' sticker with security strip affixed to the rear panel.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
