About this copy
This is the first American edition of Goddard's thriller, originally copyrighted in 1974. The plot follows Marta Fredericks as she discovers her identity has been built on a lie and embarks on a pursuit from London to Vienna in search of her unknown father, a former Gestapo officer, encountering mystery and danger along the way. Praised by contemporary reviewers as "a gripping and accomplished first novel by an author who jumps straight into the first rank of thriller writers."
BINDING AND
Condition
- Book
- Good – The binding is sound and tight, with bright, clean interior pages. The spine shows expected wear from reading and age. Endpapers show age-related yellowing and minor foxing. This is a solid, readable copy.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – Original jacket present with unclipped price of $6.95. The jacket shows significant soiling, staining, and age-related spotting, particularly noticeable on the spine and edges. There is moderate edge wear and some creasing, with visible fading of the red and white areas. The jacket remains protective despite its worn appearance.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
