About this copy
This is the first UK edition of this collection, published by The Bodley Head in 1964 (copyright 1963, Frances Scott Fitzgerald Lanahan). The copyright page shows no subsequent printing or reprint notice, consistent with this being a first printing of the first UK edition. The letters are arranged not chronologically but grouped around the people closest to Fitzgerald, including his daughter Scottie, Zelda, Maxwell Perkins, Ernest Hemingway, Edmund Wilson, and others.
Issued in the publisher's brown cloth boards with a pictorial dust jacket. The jacket is present, apparently original to the book, and retains its printed price of 50s net on the front flap, unclipped.
Condition
- Book
- Very Good – boards are clean and square, with only light age-related toning to the page edges; no writing or marks noted.
- Dust jacket
- Good – a corner tear at the top of the front panel, edge and corner wear at the spine ends, and noticeable browning/soiling to the rear panel and flap.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
