The copyright page states 'First published in 1953' with no further printing or impression notices, indicating this copy is from the first printing of this anthology. Issued in black cloth boards with the original priced dust jacket (10s. 6d. net).
The jacket, while showing considerable wear as described below, remains complete and unclipped.

- Good – cloth boards sound, text block clean with no significant foxing noted. A pencil gift inscription dated July 2022 appears on the front free endpaper, indicating a later owner rather than original provenance.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – heavy edge wear with chipping and small tears at the spine ends and corners, a vertical crease to the front panel, and some toning to the spine panel. Complete, with both flaps intact and price present.
