About this copy
THE "CROSSBELTS": THE JOURNAL OF THE VIII KING'S ROYAL IRISH HUSSARS Vol. 6, No. 2, April 1958. Published by the VIII King's Royal Irish Hussars, 1958. This is the regimental journal of the VIII King's Royal Irish Hussars, issued in April 1958 shortly before the regiment's amalgamation with the 4th/7th Royal Dragoon Guards to form the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars later that year.
Contents include squadron notes, regimental news, and contemporary advertising, including a period NAAFI advertisement. The book is bound in green cloth-covered boards with the regimental crest blocked to the front cover in gilt/bronze.
Condition
- Book
- Fair – the covers are worn at the extremities with fraying to the spine ends and corners, and scattered light staining/speckling to the front board. The front hinge is cracked and the text block is starting to separate from the case. Early pages show rust-coloured foxing/staining near the gutter. Text and images throughout otherwise appear complete and legible.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
Collector's notes
- Regimental journals of this type were printed in limited numbers for serving and former members, and individual issues do not turn up often
- Published April 1958 by the VIII King's Royal Irish Hussars
- This issue predates the regiment's 1958 amalgamation into the Queen's Royal Irish Hussars, documenting the final period of independent squadron activity
- Please note the hinge and foxing issues described above before bidding
This is a pre-owned book. Please look at every photograph: they show its true condition.
