About this copy

This is a collection of case narratives drawn from the real nineteenth-century reminiscences of James McLevy, a detective with the Edinburgh Police Force. The selection was made by George Scott-Moncrieff shortly before his death in 1974, with an introduction by him and ten line drawings by David Black. The front board bears a printed portrait of McLevy and a facsimile reproduction of his own signature - this is a decorative printed feature of the book design, not a hand-signed copy.

Hardcover in green cloth boards with a printed dust jacket. The dust jacket carries the original printed price of £5.95, and a retailer's price sticker for the same amount is affixed to the front flap.

Condition

Book
Very Good - boards and text block are clean and tight, with no inscriptions or markings noted.
Dust jacket
Good - a small nick/tear at the top of the spine and a faint crease near the top of the front panel; otherwise presentable with bright printing.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
