About this copy

This is the first edition of Peacock's profusely illustrated history of the USAF's Strategic Air Command, tracing its story from the immediate postwar years through the B-29, B-36, B-47, B-52 and B-58 eras up to the B-1B bomber and SR-71 Blackbird. The copyright page states 'First published in Great Britain in 1988' with no subsequent reprint notice, consistent with a first printing. The book is presented in its original illustrated dust jacket, featuring an aerial photograph of a B-1B bomber on the front panel.

This copy carries a pasted-in Farleigh School Prize label to the front free endpaper, dated 7th July 1990, awarded to a pupil for a School Prize in Electronics - an item of incidental later provenance rather than any authorial association.

Condition

Book
Very Good - boards and text block appear clean and sound; a school prize label has been pasted to the front free endpaper.
Dust jacket
Very Good - bright and glossy with good colour retention; no significant tears or creasing noted in the photographs.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
