About this copy

This is the Rupert Hart-Davis London edition of Harrer's account of his years in Tibet, translated from the German by Richard Graves, with an introduction by Peter Fleming. The full copyright/printing history was not fully visible in photographs, so the exact printing (first or later impression) cannot be confirmed with certainty. Bound in blue cloth boards, the book is housed in its original illustrated dust jacket, which carries a 'Book Society Choice' band and the original printed price of 16s net on the front flap.

The colour frontispiece depicts the Dalai Lama receiving the sacred relic from the Indian delegation.

Condition

Book
Good – cloth boards sound, text block clean, no inscriptions or markings noted.
Dust jacket
Fair – notable chipping and loss to the spine crown and tail with a small area of loss/creasing to the spine panel, closed tears to the top front corner, and general edgewear consistent with age. Jacket remains complete enough to display title and price clearly.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
