About this copy
SAMMLUNG TONY STRAUS-NEGBAUR BERLIN Japanische Farbenholzschnitte des 17. bis 19. Jahrhunderts Eingeleitet von Curt Glaser. Beschrieben von Fritz Rumpf.
Auktionsleitung: Paul Cassirer und Hugo Helbing. Published in Berlin. This is the printed auction catalogue for the sale of the Tony Straus-Negbaur collection of Japanese colour woodcuts, spanning the 17th to 19th centuries.
The catalogue includes detailed entries on individual prints with attributions, dimensions, colour descriptions, and provenance notes, illustrated with tipped-in and printed plates including a hand-tipped colour plate near the front. This particular copy shows contemporary pencil price/bid annotations in the margins beside a number of catalogue entries, along with a small red ink collector or dealer stamp and inventory code ("T-503") on a preliminary leaf, suggesting use as a working sale-room or bidder's copy.
Condition
- Book
- Good – paper-covered boards with soiling, faint scuffing, and light staining to the front board; spine and hinges show wear consistent with age and handling; text block is generally clean with light age-toning; endpapers show some creasing.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
