About this copy
This is the Third Edition, printed in 1961. The book was first published in 1950, with a Second Edition in 1952 and a further reprint in 1958 preceding this Third Edition printing. Written by John Thurman, Camp Chief of Gilwell Park, the book is a guide to Scout pioneering projects including rafts, derricks, hoists, aerial runways, and signal towers, approved for publication by The Boy Scouts Association.
Issued in orange cloth boards with black lettering, in the original price-printed dust jacket (10/6 net, intact and unclipped). The rear jacket flap advertises the companion volume, 'Fun with Ropes and Spars', also by Thurman. The front free endpaper carries an early owner's ink inscription, 'W.S. Marshall'.

- Good – cloth boards show soiling and light staining, corners lightly bumped; endpapers show foxing; text block appears clean and complete throughout.

- Good – general edge wear, light creasing along the spine, small nicks to the top corners, and toning to the spine panel; price panel intact and unclipped.
