This is the 1982 Guild Publishing (book club) edition of Northanger Abbey, issued by arrangement with Chatto & Windus, who held rights to the standard text. It is not a first edition of the novel, which was first published in 1817. Hardcover in blue cloth boards, housed in the original pictorial dust jacket featuring a coach and country road scene on the front and a silhouette portrait on the rear panel.

- Good – boards are sound and square, text block appears clean throughout the photographed pages.

- Fair – surface scuffing to the front panel, a small chip/tear near the top edge by the spine, and a tape repair to the rear flap where it had separated, with an accompanying crease and some discoloration.
