About this copy
This copy is a first edition, first printing, as indicated by the copyright page statement "First Published 1933" with no subsequent reprint notices. Helen Corke was a close friend and colleague of D. H. Lawrence during his years as a schoolteacher in Croydon from 1909, and this short book offers her personal commentary on Lawrence's posthumously published Apocalypse. The book is presented in its original dust jacket, printed 5/- net on the front flap.
The jacket's rear panel and flap advertise other contemporary Heinemann titles, including Marcia Davenport's Mozart and The Letters of D. H. Lawrence edited by Aldous Huxley, both useful in confirming the jacket's date.
Condition
- Book
- Good – boards show age-related toning; no inscriptions or markings noted in the photographed pages.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – heavily toned overall, with chipping and small losses at the spine head and corners, and general edge wear throughout, though the jacket remains complete on the panels shown.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
