About this copy
This is the second volume in the 'Drawings of the Masters' series, first published in Great Britain in 1963 by Weidenfeld and Nicolson (printed in the USA by Shorewood Press). The text is by Winslow Ames, a noted collector and authority on drawings, surveying Italian draftsmanship from Leonardo, Michelangelo and Bellini through to the Baroque and Rococo work of Guercino, Canaletto, Tiepolo and Guardi. The volume includes numerous plates, many in full colour.
The book retains its original dust jacket, illustrated with Head of an Angel by Verrocchio (Uffizi Gallery), with the original price of 30s net printed on the front flap.
Condition
- Book
- Good – text block and boards appear clean and sound based on the photographs; please review images closely as interior was only partially photographed.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – the jacket shows notable surface scuffing, abrasion and light spotting across the black panels, along with small chips and tears at the corners and spine ends. The front cover image remains clear and unaffected.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
