About this copy

This volume is part of the six-title 'Great Religions of Modern Man' series published by George Braziller, presenting extensive selections of classical Hindu texts alongside an extensive editorial introduction by Sanskrit scholar Louis Renou. The copyright page records a first printing of October 1961 and a second printing of December 1961; this copy's title page carries the 1962 date. The book is housed in its original illustrated dust jacket, designed by Joseph Low, featuring a red Nataraja (dancing Shiva) figure on a cream ground over a yellow panel.

The front free endpaper carries an ink ownership inscription (name appears to read 'E. Peter Dudbridge'); this is an owner's signature, not that of the author or editor.

Condition

Book
Good – text block clean and binding sound; ownership inscription present on the front free endpaper.
Dust jacket
Fair – noticeable staining and spotting to the front panel and yellow band, wear and a small tear/chip at the upper spine corner, and general age wear consistent with a jacket of this age.

This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
