About this copy
This is an undated printing of Gulliver's Travels issued as No. 29 in the Dean's Classics series, a line of illustrated hardback classics for young readers published by Dean & Son. The text was made and printed in Great Britain by Purnell and Sons, Ltd. of Paulton, Somerset and London. No dated printing statement is present on the copyright page in this copy, so the exact printing within the series' long run cannot be confirmed.
The book is bound in red cloth boards and is housed in its original pictorial dust jacket, illustrated with a scene of Gulliver standing over the Lilliputian fleet. The rear jacket panel lists the other 29 titles in the Dean's Classics series.
Condition
- Book
- Good – sound red cloth binding, text block clean overall with scattered foxing to the endpapers and preliminary leaves. A faint period owner's name is inked on the front free endpaper.
- Dust jacket
- Fair – the original jacket is present but shows notable wear, including chipping and small areas of paper loss at the spine head and tail, a tear at the top edge of the front panel, and general surface soiling and edge wear. Colours remain bright.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
