About this copy
This is the first edition of this title, part of the 'Great Moments' series for young readers. The copyright page states 'First published 1959' with no later printing or reprint statements. David St John Thomas was later the founder of the well-known publisher David & Charles, and this is an early title by him.
The book is bound in red cloth boards and retains its original pictorial dust jacket, priced 11/6 net and unclipped. A previous owner has added a short pencil note on the front free endpaper identifying the author's later career, along with a small pencilled price.
Condition
- Book
- Very Good – clean, bright cloth boards with sharp corners; text block and endpapers clean aside from the pencil note mentioned above.
- Dust jacket
- Good – a closed tear near the top of the spine fold, with rubbing and small chips to the extremities, most noticeably to the top right corner of the front panel. Now housed in a protective sleeve.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
