About this copy
This is the bound annual volume collecting the twelve monthly issues of Goodwill for the year 1899, a Church of England-affiliated general-interest magazine covering religious, social, and children's subjects, edited by the Reverend James Adderley. The volume includes a full contents page listing contributors and articles for the year, including a serialised story by Violet Brooke Hunt. The book is bound in the original pictorial red cloth, decorated in gilt and black to the front board with an angel design and the title in gilt.
There is no dust jacket, as is standard for a bound periodical volume of this kind. An early owner's signature, 'R. Leach', appears on the front free endpaper; this is an ownership signature only, not attributed to any named contributor.
Condition
- Book
- Good – cloth boards show wear and rubbing at the extremities, with fading to the spine. The title page has a tear and some separation along the gutter fold, with minor loss to the edge (see photos). Pages show general age-toning. The text and contents remain complete and legible throughout.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
