About this copy
A biography of the English portrait painter George Romney (1734-1802), written by Hilda Gamlin, also author of 'Emma, Lady Hamilton'. This edition includes eighteen illustrations and a facsimile letter, and was printed by Aberdeen University Press. No printing statement beyond the 1894 date is present in the photographed pages, so the specific printing this copy represents cannot be fully confirmed.
Bound in the publisher's dark green cloth, with a gilt Art Nouveau-style floral border and title to the front board, and a facsimile of Romney's own signature stamped in gilt to the spine and rear board. No dust jacket is present.
Condition
- Book
- Good – sound, tightly bound copy with age-related wear. Corners are bumped, spine gilt lettering is somewhat rubbed, and there is light foxing/spotting to the preliminary leaves and text block edges consistent with age. Illustration plates with tissue guards are present and intact.
This is a pre-owned book, and minor age-related wear may be present beyond what is specifically mentioned. All readily visible defects have been described to the best of my ability. Please see photos, which form part of the description.
